-- BEULA makes it much easier to read the End User License Agreements (EULA) and Terms Of Service Agreements (TOS) that appear right before you install new software programs on your computer. -- WHY SHOULD YOU CARE? Most of these license agreements are written in a dry, almost impenetrable way using standard legal "boilerplate" wording. Almost no one reads them fully. -- AN IMPORTANT REASON to glance through license agreements is that they sometimes let you know that the software publisher will also be installing some things you might not want on your computer, like third-party "tool bars", "form fillers", and other "free" utilities that very often come with "strings" attached. Such "extras" often let advertising be sent to you in the form of pop-up windows; or collect data about your computer and Internet activities, so the third-party provider can sell this information to advertisers. -- Reading the license agreement sometimes lets you know that the publisher has provided a way to not install these unwanted third-party components. But only if you've read about it first. -- OF PARTICULAR CONCERN is when the license agreement reveals that there are extra financial charges in using a program, or that a "one-time purchase" is actually a subscription with continuing charges to your bank or credit card. -- Why BEULA? The problem with trying to read software license agreements is that they come inside a small narrow text box with A LOT of scrolling needed.
