Program Description

Design batteries or learn about oxidation and reduction by building cells, like the Lead-Acid battery or the 1.5 Volt cells you buy at the store. Drag-and-drop electrodes from the Electrode Selector or randomly generate a cell from over 1600 already provided. Alter cell properties such as temperature, pH, concentration and pressure and see its effect on the cell. New half cells can easily be added Auto Half Cell, or you can edit one with the Half Cell Editor. Half equations for cells can be viewed and balanced by the program. Details such as Cell Voltage, direction of electron flow, which electrode is the anode or cathode, positive or negative, and where oxidation and reduction are taking place can be shown or hidden. Cell colors can be customized. Gases and non-ionic solutions are recognised and can be edited. The cells can be copied and pasted to a word processor, printed directly or saved as a picture file in a variety of formats.
