Program Description

This software is for indexing and searching a single text file, HTML file, XML file or a file of a similar type on a hard disk, memory stick, CD-ROM or similar storage medium. It does not simply search a file for character strings; it indexes every word in a given file, and the file can then be searched for any word in a given set of search words, or all words, or an exact phrase. The software is capable of indexing a file over 1 MB in size, and containing over 10,000 different words. Even with that number of different words a search returns results in a few seconds. The results (presented as extracts from the file, containing the search words) are displayed by the software and can also be displayed in a page in your default web browser.
